Move well
Move often
Staying in shape is difficult. Fitness is different for each individual and involves many different factors beyond superficial characteristics. Regular exercise promotes mental health, injury avoidance, sleep quality, and even encourages creativity. Maintaining a dynamic routine, practical goals, and informed reference points ensures consistent progress.
Focus on quality movements and you will yield quality results.
Be omnivorous
Humans are omnivores. We are incredibly dynamic beings that thrive when we consume nutrients from a variety of sources. The same can be said for our movement. Keep your mind curious when it comes to learning new and different ways of moving, and you will be surprised at how well you adapt. In keeping this mindset, you will counterbalance the overuse injuries and monotony of the movements you repeat throughout the day.
Establish Consistency
Consistency is incredibly important when it comes to fitness. Find reasons to keep going when you don’t want to. Pain avoidance and aesthetics are not always enough to motivate you day to day.
Train towards a skill you would like to execute, or improve upon an existing one. This could be something you’ve never done before, or it could be something you did years ago. This doesn’t necessarily have to be something competitive. If you’ve always wanted to be able to do a pull-up, go dancing, or hiking, why not train your body in ways that will make those things easier?
